Multi-Currency Payment Processing
The WorldPay Internet merchant account includes multi-currency payment processing, enabling you to offer your products and services in any of over 120 different currencies. Payments can be settled to your bank account in any of 14 remittance currencies.
This allows your customers to purchase goods and services from you in a currency that they recognise and understand.
About Multi-Currency Payment Processing
As standard, your WorldPay Internet Merchant Account includes one payment currency and one remittance (settlement) currency - you will normally choose your local currency for both.
You may wish to choose different payment and remittance currencies, for example, US Dollars payment currency and UK Sterling as the remittance currency. Shoppers will pay in the payment currency - their credit card statement will show payments in this currency. Funds will then be converted to your remittance currency and paid into your bank account.
You may choose multiple payment currencies. Again, shoppers can pay you in the currency of their choice, and funds will be converted to your remittance currency for settlement to your bank account.
You can add extra currencies to your WorldPay account at any time. There is a one-time setup fee of £50 per additional currency.
The following outlines some of the many ways you can use multi-currency payment processing.
Multiple Websites
Some of our WorldPay customers have multiple web sites, each web site set up to target different countries. For example:
- UK website with pricing in UK Sterling
- US website with pricing in US Dollars
- German website with pricing in Euros
- French website with pricing in Euros
Your website or shopping cart can send a value to the WorldPay payment page telling it which currency to display. The WorldPay payment page is available in several other languages including French, German and Spanish, which can help you target European or other world markets. The choice of how to build your web site (or sites) and display pricing is entirely up to you.
Shoppers can also choose payment currency from a drop-down menu on the payment page if required.
Multi-Currency Websites
Multi-currency websites are still quite rare, but WorldPay make it possible. WorldPay provide a currency rates file which you can download each night to update pricing on your website. Ideally you'll need a PHP / ASP / CGI based website so that you can convert the pricing on your website and automate the currency updates. If not, you can calculate prices manually.
If you would like help creating a multi-currency website, we can convert your existing web site for multi-currency payment processing using WorldPay's currency rates file.
